COCA Card Review: Cashback, Fees, & Perks
COCA is a self-custodial financial app offering a Visa card with cashback rates of up to 8%. With both USD and EUR accounts, users can spend through the card and earn cashback in the currency of their chosen account. Cashback rates and other rewards increase across six tiers based on how much of COCA’s native token users stake: Starter, Standard, Standard+, Premium, Premium+ and Elite.
Its app relies on Sumsub and Privy for onboarding, with Wirex-powered card and banking infrastructure. Sign-up and know your customer (KYC) verification took around 10 minutes, after which the card could be added manually to both Apple Pay and Google Pay.
COCA stands out for the breadth of its additional features and extensive cashback system. Beyond card rewards, it offers an earn feature on savings accounts and staking vaults, travel perks and a referral program. One limitation is the roughly ≈ 1.9% FX spread we observed during PLN testing, which was higher than some competing cards we tested and eats into COCA’s entry-level cashback.

Cashback and Tiers
COCA offers a percentage of your card spending as cashback. The cashback rate depends on a user’s membership tier. Rewards are credited by the 10th of each month, in the user’s chosen currency.
| Tier | $COCA Staked | Approx. Stake Value)* | Cashback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 0 | $0 | 1% unlimited |
| Standard | 300 | ~$470 | 3% on first $1,000/month, then 1% |

To qualify for a higher tier, users must stake the required amount of $COCA tokens, which remain locked for the duration of their tier membership. Each tier comes with specific perks, although the underlying Visa card itself does not change by tier or upgrade to a higher card class (like Visa Infinite). Starter, Standard and Standard+ include free virtual card issuance, while a plastic card costs $5 and customer support is classified as Basic. Premium, Premium+ and Elite include both free virtual and plastic cards, alongside Priority customer support. COCA’s documentation does not define the difference between Basic and Priority support.
Not all card spending qualifies for cashback. Ineligible transactions include cash-related transactions, cryptocurrency purchases, gambling and betting, government or judicial payments, refunded or cancelled transactions, professional services, timeshares, transaction manipulation and excluded merchant category codes.
Card Fees
To identify the real fees behind the COCA card, we tested it in-store and compared the exchange rate with the Google exchange rate at the exact time of the transaction.
COCA applied an exchange rate of approximately 1 PLN = $0.2720, compared with the Google market rate at the time of around 1 PLN = $0.2670. This resulted in an effective FX markup of approximately 1.9%. The observed markup may include a small transaction fee, although COCA’s documentation does not explicitly disclose one.
ATM Withdrawal Fees and Limits
COCA allows up to $250 in fee-free ATM withdrawals per month, with a 2% withdrawal fee applying thereafter. These fees are separate from the card's daily and monthly withdrawal limits, which restrict the maximum amount of cash users can access.
Fees
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Monthly fee-free allowance | $250 |
| Withdrawal fee beyond allowance | 2% |
Limits
| Limit | Maximum |
|---|---|
| Daily withdrawal amount | €850 |
| Monthly withdrawal amount | €5,000 |
| Daily withdrawal count | 5 transactions |
Card and Feature Availability
COCA's card and banking services have different geographical coverage. As of September 2026, the card is available in 76 jurisdictions, while EUR banking services are limited to 28 European countries and require app version 3.0.0 or later.
Funding Your COCA Card
You can fund your COCA card through bank transfers, crypto deposits or debit and credit card payments.
For bank transfers, COCA supports EUR deposits via SEPA, providing users with the necessary account details, including an IBAN and BIC. COCA does not charge fees for SEPA transfers, which can arrive instantly or take up to two business days, depending on the sending bank. International SWIFT transfers are currently unsupported.
Crypto deposits offer another funding option. For USD accounts, COCA highlights USDT and USDC as the most popular assets, although users can search for other supported cryptocurrencies. Available networks include Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Gnosis, NEAR, Solana and Sui. For EUR accounts, EURC is the primary deposit option, supported on Base, Ethereum, Optimism and Solana.
COCA operates as a self-custodial wallet rather than a bank, relying on third-party providers for funding and payment processing. Ramp Network facilitates fiat-to-crypto purchases, while Aurora Intents handles cross-chain asset routing and conversion. Its EUR IBANs and card services also depend on external infrastructure, although COCA has not publicly identified all providers involved.
COCA also supports debit and credit card funding. The app allows users to share their COCA card details, including the card number and cardholder name.
COCA Card Additional Features
Earn
COCA offers crypto staking through its partnership with Everstake, which generates yield by staking supported assets with blockchain validators. At the time of writing, yields stand at 3.02% APY for Ethereum (ETH), 2.58% for Polygon (POL) and 5.63% for Solana (SOL), with rates fluctuating based on market conditions. COCA charges no additional staking fees.
COCA Travel
COCA Travel is a hotel-booking feature offering discounted accommodation worldwide. COCA advertises discounts of up to 65% on hotel bookings, with users also able to earn additional cashback when paying with their COCA card, depending on their loyalty tier. Discounts vary by property and availability, with certain dates potentially excluded from promotional offers.
Referral Program
COCA's Refer-a-Friend program previously rewarded existing users for inviting new cardholders who completed qualifying purchases. However, the program was temporarily suspended on 26 August 2026 while COCA upgraded its referral system. New registrations are currently ineligible for referral rewards, although previously earned rewards remain accessible. No confirmed relaunch date has been announced.
Who Is This Card For?
COCA is best suited to high spenders willing to stake $COCA tokens to unlock higher cashback rates. Its Premium tiers offer between 5% and 8% cashback, making them particularly attractive to users who can avoid foreign exchange costs. However, the higher tiers require substantial capital commitments, exposing users to token price fluctuations. Monthly reward-claiming limits also restrict how much cashback can be redeemed.
For everyday users, COCA's lower tiers are less competitive, particularly for foreign-currency spending. The free Starter tier offers 1% cashback, which was more than offset by the approximately 1.9% FX markup observed during our PLN test. Standard increases cashback to 3%, but requires staking 300 $COCA tokens. Users prioritising cashback without staking requirements or additional conversion costs may find better value elsewhere.
Beyond cashback, COCA's extensive range of features may appeal to users looking for more than a spending card. Its combination of EUR banking services, crypto staking via its Everstake partnership, hotel discounts through COCA Travel and self-custody feature make it a broader financial app for users who want to manage spending and onchain activity in one place.
