About Wirex
Wirex launched the first crypto card, a Bitcoin-backed product, in 2014. Headquartered in London, it is the second-largest issuer tracked on Paymentscan and one of the few crypto-native platforms holding principal membership with both Visa and Mastercard.
Issuing and networks
Wirex issues cards in USD, EUR, GBP, HKD, AUD and NZD, with local issuance in each currency, on both Visa and Mastercard through its own memberships.
Settlement and currencies
Settlement is hybrid. An onchain architecture, rolled out from 2025 and fully live in Q1 2026, locks funds on EVM chains such as Base at authorisation. Legacy offchain volume is settled later on Stellar. Network settlement runs in USDC and EURC with both schemes. Multi-currency settlement is live in USD and EUR, with AUD and GBP in progress.
