Safepal Card Review: Features, Fees, and Perks
The SafePal Card is a free virtual Mastercard connected to a Swiss IBAN account provided through Fiat24 and managed inside the SafePal app. It lets eligible users convert crypto into fiat, make bank transfers, and spend their account balance anywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted.
SafePal does not offer general cashback on card purchases. Its main advantages are the free virtual card and banking account, crypto funding through the SafePal wallet, support for major mobile wallets, and zero foreign-exchange fees when spending from certain enabled currency balances.
The card is best suited to existing SafePal users who want crypto, fiat banking, and everyday payments in one app. It is less compelling for users primarily seeking cashback, airport benefits, or a physical card.

Card Features
Swiss IBAN Account
The SafePal banking service includes an individual Swiss IBAN account provided in partnership with Fiat24. The account can receive supported bank transfers, hold multiple fiat currencies, and fund card payments.
The banking account is separate from the user’s self-custodial SafePal wallet. Fiat24 is responsible for the banking service’s compliance and licensing, while SafePal provides access through its app.
Mobile-Wallet Support
The virtual card can be connected to:
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Samsung Pay
- PayPal
This makes the virtual-only card usable at supported physical checkout terminals without requiring a plastic card.
Multi-Currency Spending
Users can enable EUR, CHF, USD, and CNY currency accounts for card payments. SafePal says there is no exchange fee when a purchase is paid from a sufficient balance in the matching enabled currency.
If that currency balance is insufficient, the account’s default currency may be used instead. Currency conversion costs or spreads can then apply.
Adjustable Spending Limits
SafePal lets users customize their card spending limit for additional security. The currently published maximum limits are €1,600 per day for contactless payments and €5,000 per day for other card-payment methods.
Cashback and Account Tiers
SafePal does not advertise cashback on ordinary card spending. Instead, it operates a points-based account-tier system that can provide lower crypto top-up costs and higher referral commissions.
Users can earn account points through:
- Registering a Fiat24 banking account
- Funding the account
- Successfully referring other users
- Staking SFP
Account tiers are reassessed at the beginning of each month using points earned during the preceding three months. Older points progressively expire from the calculation.
SFP can also be staked to advance through the account tiers. The staking period lasts 90 days and does not support early redemption. Adding more SFP restarts the lock-up period from the latest staking date.
Higher tiers may receive better crypto top-up rates and referral commissions of up to 40% of eligible top-up fees. These are account benefits rather than cashback on card purchases.

SafePal Card Fees
SafePal does not charge an account-opening or account-management fee. The virtual Mastercard is also provided without a separate issuance fee.
SafePal and Fiat24 do not charge for bank-wire transfers, although the sending, receiving, or intermediary bank may impose its own fee.
Crypto top-up fees vary by account tier, with SafePal advertising rates as low as 0.4% for qualifying users. Network gas fees, crypto-swap fees, conversion spreads, and other third-party costs can still apply.
SafePal also operates a long-term fee-waiver campaign under which certain deposit and off-ramp service fees are returned as rebates. These rebates accumulate in the account’s rewards balance and generally require at least 5 USDC before they can be claimed. The campaign’s rules and availability can change.
Funding Your SafePal Card
Crypto Deposits
USDC on Arbitrum is the default cryptocurrency used to fund the banking account. Users with assets on other supported networks can swap or bridge them through SafePal into USDC on Arbitrum before making a deposit.
SafePal says its wallet provides routes from more than 40 blockchains into USDC or supported fiat balances. Blockchain gas fees and conversion spreads may apply.
Bank Transfers
Users can fund the account through supported transfers to their personal Swiss IBAN. The account can also be used to send supported IBAN transfers.
While SafePal and Fiat24 do not charge a wire-transfer fee, another bank involved in the transaction may do so.
Third-Party On-Ramps
SafePal’s direct fiat-gateway on-ramp was disabled until further notice in March 2026. Users can still purchase crypto through integrated third-party services such as MoonPay, subject to the provider’s availability and fees.
Availability and Eligibility
The SafePal Card is not available in every country where the SafePal wallet can be used. Applicants must generally be citizens of a supported country and reside in a supported area.
Some supported regions provide access to both the banking account and Mastercard, while others provide more limited banking functionality without Mastercard support. Users should check the current list of supported regions before starting registration.
Identity verification is required. SafePal says no credit check or SFP stake is required simply to qualify for an account.

Verdict
SafePal offers more than a conventional crypto card. Its combination of a virtual Mastercard, Swiss IBAN account, multi-currency balances, and SafePal wallet integration makes it a useful bridge between self-custodied crypto and everyday fiat spending.
Its biggest weakness is the lack of card cashback. The tier system primarily rewards account funding, SFP staking, and referrals rather than ordinary purchases. However, users who value integrated banking, crypto deposits, mobile-wallet payments, and multi-currency spending may find those features more useful than a percentage-based card reward.
