Karta.io Card Review: Cashback, Fees, & Perks

Karta.io combines a self-custody wallet with virtual and physical Visa Signature cards. Users can fund the account with USDT or USDC, receive money through supported fiat rails, and spend through Apple Pay, Google Pay, or the physical card.

Karta does not offer direct cashback on the cardholder’s everyday purchases. Its rewards are referral-based: users earn KARAT from qualifying referrals and a share of referred users’ spending.

The card has no recurring membership fee, but Karta charges a 1.5% fee on card payments. Additional FX, cross-border, ATM, and transfer fees can apply, making Karta better suited to users who prioritize self-custody, stablecoin funding, and broad card access over the lowest possible spending costs.

Karta’s current main pricing page lists ATM withdrawals at 1 USDT plus 1.5%. An older first-party fee article and the DI testing notes showed 1 USDT plus 2.5%, so users should confirm the current rate in the app before withdrawing cash.

Karta’s legal terms permit a non-USD FX fee of up to 3% and a separate cross-border fee of up to 3%. These legal maximums take precedence over older promotional material referring to a standard 1% international fee.

During testing, a PLN 3.20 purchase resulted in a charge of 0.88 USDT. Based on the exchange rate at the time, the total difference was approximately 4.54%. This may have included Karta’s card-payment fee and currency-conversion costs, so it should not be treated as a standalone FX spread.

Cashback and Referrals

Karta does not pay cashback directly on the cardholder’s everyday purchases and does not operate a conventional card-tier system.

Instead, its referral program rewards users in KARAT:

  • 1 KARAT is valued at 0.01 USDT
  • A qualifying friend who activates a Karta card can generate a 500-KARAT reward, equivalent to $5
  • Referrers can earn rewards equal to 25% of the KARAT cashback generated from their referred users’ spending

KARAT rewards can be converted to the user’s USDT balance. Referral conditions and reward rates can change, so the current terms should be checked in the app.

Funding Your Karta.io Card

Karta supports USDT and USDC deposits on:

  • Tron
  • Ethereum
  • BNB Smart Chain
  • Polygon
  • Arbitrum
  • Optimism
  • Base
  • Solana

Karta’s main pricing page describes crypto top-ups as free. A more detailed Karta fee article lists a 5.90-USDT charge for TRC-20 deposits while showing supported deposits on the other listed networks as free. Users should review the quoted fee before confirming a Tron deposit.

Eligible users may also receive funds through:

  • ACH
  • Domestic wire
  • SWIFT
  • SEPA
  • PIX
  • COP bank transfers
  • SPEI

Available fiat rails depend on the user’s country and account eligibility. Karta states that bank withdrawals are still being introduced, although external crypto withdrawals are available for the applicable network fee.

Other Karta Features

Karta provides a self-custody wallet in which users retain control of their crypto. Card security features include 3D Secure, encrypted transactions, PIN protection, and the ability to manage the card through the app.

The platform also includes Karta AI, which provides financial insights, transaction automation, and in-app assistance.

Karta advertises card acceptance in more than 200 countries and territories where Visa is supported, subject to local regulations and partner coverage.
